Anderson v. Strangio: Dublin Distance Preview

Defending CIF-State 1600m champion Liam Anderson, a senior from Redwood (NC) and defending CIF-State 3200m champion Matt Strangio, a junior from Jesuit (SJ), are scheduled to go head-to-head in the elite 3200m race Saturday night at the Dublin Distance Fiesta.

A year ago at Dublin, Strangio placed second and Anderson was third. At the State Meet, Anderson placed fifth after winning the 1600 title earlier in the day.

Saturday, Anderson is scheduled to run both the 800 and 3200.

Both were interviewed about a month ago and asked about the challenge the other presents in the 3200-meter race. While this video serves to advance the 3200 race at Dublin, the references are toward the State Meet.

These are two of the top distance runners in the country. Anderson, bound for Stanford, is a two-time State cross country divisional champion, 2018 Nike Cross National champion, and 2018 Gatorade National Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Strangio is also a State cross country divisional champion who was eighth at NXN, as CA boys took three of the top eight spots (Newbury Park junior Nico Young was fourth)!!
