Mann rising senior Briana Nelson is competing at the World Youth Trials in Ypsilanti, Mich. this weekend, hoping to advance to IAAF World Youth Championships in Bressanone, Italy.
The Italy meet is scheduled for July 8-12.
Nelson, a member of club team Quick Striders, told The Greenville News the top two -- or perhaps three -- in the 400-meter dash will make the U.S. team.
Nelson finished second in the 400 at Nike Outdoor Nationals last weekend.
